3 – New Asteroids Discovered by Indian Teacher-Student

3 New Asteroids discovered by Bharathi Matriculation High School Principal Bala Bharathi and GS Aazhimukilan, B.Sc. Tamil Nadu Physics student of St. Joseph’s College, Trichy. The discovery is part of the International Astronomical search Collaboration (IASC) citizen science program organized by the National Astronomical and Space Administration (NASA).

*The 3 asteroids are tentatively named BBM2101, BBM2102 and BBM2103.
*IASC’s International Asteroid Search Campaign encourages the general public to develop knowledge of astronomy by allowing them to identify new asteroids.
*Participants were given images from a space telescope in Hawaii, to identify moving objects.
*Participants will use a special software called “Astronomica” to track potential asteroids.
