Digitized Versions of Flagship Health Scheme – CGHS,RAN,HDMG

Ministry of Health and Family Welfare(MoHFW) launched the revamped,
*digitized version of Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS),
*Umbrella schemes of Rashtriya Arogya Nidhi (RAN)
*Health Minister’s Discretionary Grant (HMDG)
*National Health Authority’s (NHA)

Aim:

Its main objective is to digitalize health services to make timely access to the benefits of health programs for poor people.

CGHS:

*It is a comprehensive health program launched in 1954 to serve employees, retirees, members of parliament, former MPs and their families.
*CGHS Under the site, it has been reported that retired pensioners will be offered cashless treatment at embalmed centers.
*The current Unit Trust of India Infrastructure Technology and Services Limited (UTI-ITSL) bill settlement platform was activated simultaneously till midnight on 10/11 June 2021 to avoid any inconvenience to CGHS pension beneficiaries.
*The e-reference module, developed by the National Information Center (NIC), enables CGHS pharmacies and health centers to provide online referral to embalmed hospitals.

RAN:

*The scheme provides financial assistance of up to Rs. 15 lakhs to poor patients for medical treatment in government hospitals for life threatening diseases / cancer / rare diseases.
*Eligibility criteria for receiving services under RAN are based on state / UT wise BPL (Below Poverty Line) threshold.
*AB PM-JAY (Ayushman Bharat – Prime Minister John Health Scheme) Beneficiaries can avail benefits under the RAN scheme for treatment beyond Rs 5 lakh as AB PM-JAY will provide coverage only up to Rs 5 lakh.

HMDG:

*Under this scheme, a maximum of Rs. 1,25,000 is provided to patients whose annual income does not exceed Rs. 1,25,000 to cover a portion of the cost of hospitalization / treatment in government hospitals.
