Giriraj Singh, Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy, has launched ‘Matsya Setu’, an online course mobile application to spread the latest freshwater aquaculture technologies to Indian fisheries farmers.
*The application was developed by ICAR-CIFA (Agricultural Research Council of India-Central Freshwater Fisheries Corporation) with funding from the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDP), Hyderabad.
*Its main objective is to teach fish farmers in India about the latest freshwater aquaculture technologies.
Key Facts:
*It has been reported that this application will lead to technology-led aquaculture development in India.
*It consists of species-wise / subject-wise self-learning online course modules that provide explanations on basic concepts, breeding, seed production, and practical demonstrations on commercially important fish growing culture.
*It provides the best management practices to be followed in maintaining soil and water quality and includes an arrangement to help farmers ask questions to experts.
