Introduction of Part II – Citizenship
Part II (Articles 5 to 11) if of our Constitution deals with the matters of citizenship. A citizen of a state is a person who enjoys full civil and political rights. India has two kinds of persons living in the country namely Citizenship and Aliens.
Article 5 – Citizenship at the commencement of the Constitution
A person who had his domicile in Indian along fulfilled anyone of the three conditions
- if he was born in India.
- if either of his parents was born in India.
- if he has been ordinarily resident in India for not less than 5 years immediately before the commencement of the constitution.
