Article 23 – Prohibition of traffic in Human Beings and Forced Labour

Traffic in human beings and begar and other similar forms of forced labour are prohibited and any contravention of this proviison shall be an offence punishable in accordance with law.

Begar means force labour with or without payment. The bonded labour system (abolition) act 1976.

The Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act, 1956 was initially enacted as the ‘Suppression of Immoral Traffic in Women and Girls Act, 1956.

Article 24 – Prohibition of Employment of Children in Factories

No child below the age of 14 years shall be employed to work in any factory or mine or engaged in any other hazardous employment.

The child Labour (Prohibition and regulation) Act, 1986 to ban employment of children aged upto 14 in any form of industry.
