Children and lockdown – Corona Virus

How to manage your children during the Corona virus lockdown period?

As per the UN estimation more than 1.25 billion children are currently staying at home because of the lock down. As a parent or caretaker it is not easy to handle your kids. Because teaching your own kids is little bit difficult since they won’t listen to you. And in many cases you may lose your tolerance and patience. In case if you need some help, follow the below guidelines

1. Make a schedule:

From waking up to going back to bed, you should set time for everything. That would make your kid to feel that they are engaged and that they are being taken care of.

2. Being creative:

Many of the household don’t have all the paint, brush and accessories in this lockdown period. So use what you got in your home. Avoid screen and get own in your garden if you have one. Ask your kids to observe things and make a pattern out of it. Once they finish the drawing ask your children some questions about the drawing or painting. Make them further creative and encourage them in a way that they come to paint at this time next day.

3. Prepare things for them:

For this time you can collect things like egg shells, milk packet, rope, egg boxes, coffee tin, fruit boxes and waste cloth. Ask your kid to do some crafts from the left over. You can show them an example or allow accessing them an online resource. You may get to see another wonderful side of your children in this lockdown when you give them their time.

4. Set time:

Always set time for them for not being bored. You must give art worked to be finished within 1 or 2 hour. So they won’t feel bored. They feel like they are doing some challenges. At last do encourage their activity (whatever it is).

5. Cleaning:

Cleaning must be a part of their daily routine. You can daily allocate some space to clean or things arrange in your house. Also after the play time ask your kids to arrange all their toys and clean the play area by themselves which is indeed a good habit.

6. Story telling:

When its nap time, tell your kids a story. And when they are awake ask them to recreate the story in their own way. By this activity you are encouraging their creativity skills. Also ask your kids to do a drama play and give them some time to prepare for the play. This would help them relieve their stage fear in the future.

7. Manage screen time:

Always watch what they are seeing in their mobile. Teach your kid to use what is appropriate to do. And tell after these two songs on YouTube, you are doing some maths. Make sure your children are learning time management from you.

8. Teach some necessary skills:

Apart from academic skills some of the skills are needed to survive this world. Like folding cloths, vacuum, mop up and doing dishes. So show them examples by doing and making them watch what you are doing.

9. Skill them up for back to school:

You can choose subjects and give them some workout. That they have to complete daily. But by doing so, don’t be mad at them when they didn’t finish today workout. Since the world is not going to end by today.

10. Nap time:

Arrange a nap time regularly. They must follow it very strictly. Since everyone needs some rest and you too.
