*It is a canisterised missile with a range of 1,000 to 2,000 km.
*The missile was designed and developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO).
*Disassembly of missiles (the process of placing a firepower into metal containers) reduces the time required to launch a missile, while at the same time improving its storage and mobility.
Agni Class of Missiles:
Agni has medium to intercontinental ballistic missiles developed by the DRDO.
*Notably, the first missile of the Agni series was tested in May 1989 and added to the Armed Forces in 2004.
Agni-1 – MRBM(Medium Range Ballistic Missile) – 700-900 Kms (Range)
Agni-2 – MRBM – 2000-3000 kms(Range)
Agni-3 – IRBM(Intermediate Range Ballistic Misile) – 3000-5000 kms(Range)
Agni-4 – IRBM – 3500 – 4000 kms (Range)
