The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has successfully test-fired a domestically integrated Abhyas-High Speed Expendable Aerial Target (HEAT) at Chandipur on the Bay of Bengal coast in Odisha.
ABHYAS:
- Developed and developed by ABHYAS Bangalore DRDO’s Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE).
- The aircraft is equipped with the MEMS-based Inertial Navigation System (INS) for navigation with the Flight Control Computer (FCC) for guidance and control.
- The high-speed aerial target ABHYAS was launched using dual Under-Slung boosters, which provide initial acceleration to the vehicle.
- The performance of the target aircraft was monitored by various sensors including telemetry and radars and the Electro Optical Tracking System (EOTS).
