Ethics and governance of artificial intelligence for health

In June 2021, the World Health Organization (WHO) released the world’s first report on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare, entitled “Ethics and Governance of Artificial Intelligence for Health”.

The WHO report has been prepared with the inputs of various international experts, which can be used to reduce the risk posed by countries and increase the benefits of AI.

Challenges in AI:

*Unethical collection & use of health data;
*Biasing AI algorithm;
*Uncontrolled use of AI for patient safety;
*Data privacy and security;
*Undeclared collection of patient data.

1.Protecting human autonomy – Humans to take medical decisions & protect patient’s medical data
2.Promoting human well-being and safety and the public interest
3.Ensuring transparency, explainability, and intelligibility
4.Fostering responsibility and accountability
5.Ensuring inclusiveness and equity
6.Promoting AI that is responsive and sustainable
