FAME Scheme – India Extends FAME scheme by two years..

The Department of Heavy Industries, Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises (MOHI & PE), Government (Government) Primary Electric Vehicles (EV) Promotion Scheme ‘Fame India Phase II’ on June 25, 2021 expanded for 2 years till March 2024, the second phase of lecture vehicles in India.

*In April 2019, the government approved the second phase of the Fame India project. Approved for a period of 3 years till March 31, 2022, at a cost of Rs.10,000 crore.
*5 per cent / Rs. With only Rs 492 crore being spent, the scheme has been extended to utilize the allocated funds.
*According to the FAME-II website, only 78,000 EVs in total have been sold against the target of 1 million electric 2-wheelers, 500,000 3-wheelers, 55,000 cars, and 7,000 buses. The project has fallen behind its goals and has now been extended to meet it.

Modifications of Recent FAME Phase 2 :

1.Earlier in June 2021, MoHi&PE made partial changes in the second phase of FAME India’s plan to mobilize electricity through state-run Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) for 3-wheelers and buses.
2.To increase the acceptance of EVs in India, under the FAME-II scheme, the subsidy for electric 2 wheelers has been increased by 50 percent from Rs. 10,000 per kilowatt hour to Rs. 15,000 per kilowatt-hour.
3.The cap on the maximum subsidy available at the wholesale price of the vehicle was also raised by the government to 40 percent from the previous 20 percent cap.
4.The Government of Gujarat’s EV Policy, in conjunction with FAME-II, will provide the first 250 commercial public EVs. Announced a 25 percent capital subsidy of up to Rs 10 lakh per station for equipment for charging stations.
