In August 2021, the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change announced that 4 more wetlands from India and 2 each from Gujarat and Haryana would be added to the ‘International Wetlands’ / Ramsar Conference.

2.With this, the number of Ramsar sites in India became 46 and the surface area covered by Ramsar sites was 1,083,322 hectares.
