Haiyang-2D (HY-2D) – New Ocean Observation Satellite

China has launched the Haiyang-2D (HOY-2D) Ocean Surveillance Satellite into Orbit.The Haiyang-2D (HY-2D) satellite was launched by a Long March-4B rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in the Kopi Desert, China.

*HY-2D will form a galaxy with previously launched HY-2B & HY-2C satellites, which will support China’s early warning and prediction of maritime disasters.
*The satellite was developed by the China Academy of Space Technology.
*It is the 370th launch pad of the Long March Rocket Series.
*The Shanghai Academy of Space Flight Technology developed the Long March Rocket Series.
*HY-2B was launched in October 2018, while HY-2C was launched in September 2020.
*China’s rover ‘Zhurong’ landed on Mars in May 2021. It is the second country after the United States to land a rover on Mars.
