*MACS 1407 has been named as the highest yielding and pest-resistant variety of soybean developed by Indian scientists through regular cross-breeding.
*The new variety MACS 1407 gives 39 quintals per hectare.
*This type of soybean was developed by scientists at the Institute of Research and Cultivation in the state of Maharashtra.
*Soybean production in the country has been around 100-146 lakh tones in the last few years. For the 2020-21 crop year (July-June), production is 137.11 lakh tonnes.
