The Indian team won a total of 19 medals, including 5 gold, 8 silver, and 6 bronze medals, at the 16th Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan from 24 August to 5 September 2021. Since its first appearance at the 1968 Paralympic Games, India has won 19 more medals than the total number of Paralympic medals won in all events.

  1. India won a total of 12 medals at the Paralympics from 1972 to 2016, with a maximum of 4 medals in 2016 and 1984.
  2. Indian para-athletes won 4 medals with 2 gold medals in the Para-Badminton competition which debuted in the 2020 edition.
  3. A total of 17 athletes have won 19 medals, while Avani Lekara and Singaraj Adana have won 2 medals each.
  4. India ranks 24th overall in the medal tally with 19 medals, followed by China, Great Britain, and the United States.
