Rolls-major Royce’s aerospace and defence technology and Infosys’ software
consulting and digital services company have entered into a collaboration for the civil aerospace sector of Rolls-sourcing Royce’s engineering and R&D services.
Under the partnership, Rolls-Royce is expected to transfer a large part of its civil aerospace engineering center capabilities and a ‘small team of people currently based at Bengaluru’s Manyata Tech Park to Infosys. “India has grown to be a key contributor to the global engineering ecosystem of Rolls-Royce, delivering high levels of technical capability to meet a wide range of complex business requirements,” said Kishore Jayaraman, President, India & South Asia of Rolls-Royce.
Our vision is to continue this work in India with high-capacity engineering in collaboration with Infosys, he added.
Rolls-Royce has developed a multidisciplinary engineering centre in Bengaluru over the past decade, and this has been an integral part of the engineering and R&D services of the company. The centre encompasses a combination of engineering skills that cover the full spectrum of R&D sub-functions and specialisms. Rolls-Royce currently, through various roles, has around 1,000 individuals in India.
We have always assumed that the physical awareness of a product with digital capabilities such as Industry 4.0, additive manufacturing, and predictive analytics is essential to incorporate. Bengaluru’s Rolls-Royce engineering team has been at the forefront of these advancements, and we are pleased to welcome them to Infosys. We have had a long and fruitful relationship with Rolls-Royce and look forward to helping [Rolls-Royce] in addressing the challenges of the civil aerospace industry,’ said
Jasmeet Singh, Infosys Executive VP and Global Head of Manufacturing.
