New Space India Limited (NSIL), the business arm of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), announced its first ‘demand-driven communications satellite launch in June 2020 as part of the government-announced space reforms.
NSIL:
It is a public sector undertaking of the Government of India and the business arm of the Indian Space Research Organization.
*As part of this initiative, NSIL has named its first on-demand communications satellite mission GSAT-24, a four-ton class Ku-band satellite.
*The entire satellite will be leased to Tata Sky to meet their DTH utility needs.
*Responsible for building, launching, owning, and operating the NSIL satellite and providing services to its dedicated customer base.
*The satellite was developed by ISRO and will be launched using the Ariane-5 missile operated by Arianespace.
*NSIL plans to launch the GSAT-24 satellite in the first quarter of 2022.
