“One Nation One Standard” mission on BIS

Research Designs and Standards Organization (RDSO) and the Bureau of Standards of India (BIS) as a Standard Developing Organization (SDO) under the SDO Accreditation Program on May 24, 2021 Became the first Indian company to be recognized.

SDO accreditation is an integral part of India’s “One Nation One Standard” mission.
BIS operates as the National Quality System of India under the administrative control of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.

1.RDSO is the only R&D division of the Ministry of Railways located in Lucknow (UP) and now has a major responsibility to develop world class standards for products and manufacture in the railway sector.
2.BIS SDO accreditation is recognized by one organization per sector, which maintains world-class standards according to the World Trade Organization (WTO) -TBT “Good Practice Code”.
3.SDO accreditation is valid for a period of 3 years.

What is “One Nation One Standard”?

Main Objective:

Its main objective is to design a uniform national standard for sectoral products, and to make it mandatory for companies under the sect.

Implementing Agency – Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS)

*Specific experts will design standards for products manufactured in a particular industry in India.
*The “One Nation One Standard” mission is part of the ‘Make in India’ project designed to create Indian products.
