Birth
K. Sivan was born on 14th April, 1957 to Kailasa Vadivoo and Chellam in Mela Sarakkalvilai at Kanyakumari District of TamilNadu.

Sivan is married to Malathi Sivan who is a house wife. He has two children Siddharth Sivan and Sushanth Sivan.
Inspirational Story of Sivan
Sivan comes from an ordinary farmer family. He is the first graduate of his family. He had been intelligent and hard-working since his childhood days. He used to work with his father in the field during his earlier days and never went for tuitions for his studies.
Education
Initially, he studied in the Tamil medium Government School in Mela Sarakkalvilai. Then he joined a school in Vallankumaranvilai of Kanyakumari district. He completed his graduation from the ST Hindu College in Nagercoil. Sivan got a bachelor degree in Engineering from Madras Institute of Technology in 1980. Later in 1982, he received a Master degree in Aerospace Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Bangalore.
Career of K. Sivan ISRO
After completing the Master degree in 1982, Sivan joined the ISRO (Indian Space and research Organization) to take part in the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) project. The PSLV acts as the lift and launch vehicle designed to launch the Indian Remote Sensing (ISRO) satellites into the sun-synchronous orbits, which was available from Russia till 1993. He had made numerous publications in many journals and had been fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering, System Society of India and Aeronautical Society of India. He had been the project director of GSLV rocket. Then he had done the work in many projects which includes the GSLV, PSLV and PSLV MKlll over nearly thirty years. Sivan, who hails from TamilNadu serves as the Chairman of ISRO.

In 2006, he got the doctorate in Aerospace Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. On 2nd July2014, he took charge as the Director of ISRO’s Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre. During the month of April in 2014, he got the Doctor of Science from the Sathyabama University in Chennai.
K.Sivan ISRO took charge as the Director of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre on 1st June 2015. He made the publication of the book “Integrated Design for Space Transportation System” in the year 2015. Later in 2018, He got the appointment as the Chief of ISRO and took charge on 15th January 2018. He became the ninth chief of ISRO, after S Kiran Kumar. On 22nd July 2019, the ISRO launched the Chandrayaan 2, the second mission to the moon under his guidance. The developmental flight of the Geosynchronous Satellite launch vehicle (GSLV-MK3) and Chandrayaan-2 were the two important missions seen by Sivan during his period.

The Chandrayaan-2 mission will help India to focus and gather data on the moon. Above 90% of the mission has been worked successfully below the guidance of him. At the time Chandrayaan-2 lander Vikram lost the link between the ISRO, Prime Minister Modi consoled Sivan that the country stands behind his team and will boost his morale. He said that he would focus on the other moon mission in 2020.
Awards of K. Sivan
In 1999, he as a scientist won the Shri Hari Om Ashram Prerit Dr Vikram Sarabhai Research award. He won the ISRO Merit Award during the year 2007. In 2011, Dr. Biren Roy Space Science Award was given to him. Then he got the Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam Award for the year 2019.
