Birth
Thiru.V.Kalyanasundaram was born on 26th August 1883 to Virudhachalanar and Chinnammaal in Thandalam of Chengalpattu District in TamilNadu .
School life
He went to the Aaryan Primary School in Royapettah in Chennai. Later he studied in the Wesley College High School. He studied Tamil below Maraimalai Adigal and N.Kathiravel Pillai of Jaffna.

V.Kalyanasundaram was married to Kamalambigai.
Career
V.Kalyanasundaram joined as an accountant in the Spencer Industry in 1906. He worked as a teacher in Wesleyan School for nearly six years, after he joined there in 1909. Then he became the editorial assistant in the Nationalists Tamil daily newspaper “Desabaktan” in 1917. As the partner of BP Wadia, he was active in the trade Union movement in 1918. Then he organized the first trade unions in South India.
He took the decision to stay in the Politics and the Independence struggle of India. V.Kalyanasunadaram became one of the three Pillars in the Indian National Congress of Tamil Nadu. In 1926, he became the President of the Congress Committee in Tamil Nadu. In the sixties, he was well-active in politics and took the retirement after the Independence of India in 1947.
He is known for expressing his words on commentaries, humanism and philosophy. V.Kalyanasundaram in comparison with the other writers like Maraimalai Adigal, Arumaga Navalur and V.O.Chidambaram Pillai have found to have the different style of writing.
Life Career
V.Kalyanasundaram’s magazine served as a light to the Tamil people. He had written his ideological and political thoughts in his magazine. His publication on interpretations of Gandhian thoughts was the achievement of the Gandhian studies. His book Manitha Vazhkkaiyum Gandhiyadigalum describes the significance of the Gandhi’s ideas to develop the human conduct. Then he had written in number of books on the spiritual and religious ideas of Ramalinga Swamigal. Ramalinga Swamigal was the Tamil Saivite researcher-saint in the 19th century. For his serials of Navasakthi, he had written commentaries on classical Tamil Literature.
He wrote nearly fifty books throughout his career. His largely read book was the “Penin perumai allatu valkait tunai nalam” during the period. He wrote about the beauty in the Hinduism in his book Murugan alladu azaku. His writings describes the Indian personalities and international features in Tamil and Indian culture. V.Kalyanasundaram followed the prose way of writing on the inner rhythms of the Tamil language, thus developing a rhythmic text. His rhythmic style was completely different from other writers, thus attracted the Tamil audience. These writings of him have been the inspiration to the new Tamil writers in the modern days.
Publications of Thiru V.Kalyanasundaram
V.Kalyanasundaram had begun a new Tamil weekly magazine “Navasakhti” in 1920, with which he spent his remaining life. He made the publication of one of the Tamil interpretations of the Mahatma Gandhi ideas. He wrote and published above 50 books.
Honors of Thiru V.Kalyanasundaram
The Government of India released a stamp to honor him on 21st October 2005 after his death. Many places in Chennai were named after V.Kalyanasundaram (Thiru.Vi.Ka) in honor of him. Those are Thiru.Vi.Ka Nagar, Thiru.Vi.Ka Industrial estate, Thiru.Vi.Ka Salai, Thiru.Vi.Ka Park in Shenoi Nagar, Thiru.Vi.Ka Bridge, Thiru.Vi.Ka Government School, Thiru.Vi.Ka Government Arts College in Thiruvarur, Thiru.Vi.Ka Nagar in Virudachalam, Thiru.Vi.Ka Government Higher Secondary School in Shenoy Nagar(Chennai),Thiru.Vi.Ka Corporation Higher Secondary School in Thathaneri in Madurai and Thiru.Vi.Ka Government Higher Secondary School in Pondicherry.
Literary Works of Thiru V.Kalyanasundaram
V.Kalyanasundaram wrote many Texts and Novels. His popular Novels are Peria Puranam, Pennin Perumai, Manidha Vaazhkaiyumkanthiadigalum, Thiru V.K.Vin Saiva Sorpozhivugal and Tamil Solai. His other writings are Political texts, religious texts, Biographies, songs and other articles.
Death
V.Kalyanasundaram died at his 71st age on 17th September 1953.
