‘SASCM’for Families lost Bread Earner to COVID-19 Pandemic

Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Manoj Sinha (Lieutenant G) launched the Special Assistance Scheme for COVID Mortalities (SASCM), a special scheme to provide financial assistance to families who have lost breadwinners to the COVID-19 pandemic.

*The J&K government has developed a ‘special program’ under the ‘Department of Social Welfare’ to identify and support distressed families.

*The project is said to be implemented from June 2021.

Purpose:

The main objective of the project is to take care of the daily lives of those affected by the corona infection, ensure food for the bereaved families and ensure financial security.

Features:

*Under SASCM, Rs.1000 / – per month will be given to the senior member of the spouse or family.
*The scheme provides a stipend of Rs. 20,000 per annum for school students and Rs. 40,000 per annum for college students.
*Beneficiaries are told that 2 children are eligible for the grant if they do not receive any other grant.
