WORLD’s LARGEST SOLAR POWER PLANT – Abu Dhabi

  • On July 26th, Abu Dhabi plans to build the world’s largest solar power plant. Emirates water and electricity company (EWEC) placed the contract for 2GW plant to Abu Dhabi National Emergency Company (Taqa), China’s JinkoPower, another local firm Masdar, and French utility company EDF.
  • Abu Dhabi Power Consumption(AD Power) announced that this power plant has consumed the world’s lowest tariff with a bid of 1.35 U.S cents per kilowatt-hour(kWh) for a solar plant on a Levelized cost of energy.
  • Al Dhafra Solar PV plant’s financial closure is posed for the 3rd quarter of 2020 and in the first half of 2022, they planned to begin with power generation.
  • By 2030 it is designed to have a capacity of 5GW of renewable energy.
