Wildlife Week in India is observed annually from October 2 to October 8 across the country with the aim of protecting the flora and fauna of India.
*2021 Wildlife Week, 67th edition, is celebrated with the theme ‘Forests and Livelihoods: Sustaining People and the Planet’.
*Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav inaugurated the Wildlife Week celebrations under the theme ‘Azadi Ka Amirt Mahotsav’, ‘India for the Tigers – A Rally on Wheels’ by LTTE rallies at 18 LTTE borders in 51 archives across the country.
Main Objective:
- Raising awareness among the people about the conservation and protection of wildlife
- To implement more measures to protect wildlife.
- To discuss all issues related to wildlife conservation
WildLife Week :
*The idea of Wildlife Week was created by the Wildlife Board of India in 1952 to raise awareness about the long-term goals for the conservation of Indian wildlife.
*Initially, Wildlife Day was celebrated in 1955 but was later upgraded to Wildlife Week in 1957.
