History

              In 1906, Mr. Bryant started the cultivation of the Pine forests in Kodaikanal. He made the cultivation to produce the costly wood from the timber forest.

              The Pine forest serves as one of the protected asserts in the Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu, that attracts the tourists in large number.  This forest having number of trees serves as one of the gifts from the nature. Because of the pleasant atmosphere, this forest acts as the natural frame for  photographers.                   

  This place is one of  themost popular tourist sites in Tamil Nadu. The leaves and the cones in this forest makes the grey appearance. The thick vegetation and the mushrooms surround these forests. In this place,the people believe that the mushrooms has a magical appearance, so they are known as magic mushrooms. This forest is the loneliest place to walk around for the nature lovers and the adventurers.

  • You must  walk only through the well laid paths.
  • Do not pluck the leaves or the plants, and other exhibits  to avoid damaging them.
  • Then ensure that you go through the designated paths, to avoid the restricted area.

  Best time for visit

              Similar to the time suitable to visit the other places in Kodaikanal, you can also visit this forest at the same time.  From the March month to June month is the best time to walk around the Pine forest. Since the temperature is low, the climate is so pleasant here when compared to other places.  This time is also the holiday time for the children to participate in the tours.                       

Transport facilities The direct buses are available from the Palani, Dindigul, Madurai and Coimbatore, to reach Kodaikanal. The nearest Airports are the Madurai and the Trichy Airport. From any of these places, you must pick a bus to reach this site. Then the trains are available from the Trichy and Madurai on a regular basis.
