Birth

Mallika Srinivasan was born to A.Sivasailam and Indira Sivasailam on 19th November 1959 in Alwarkurichi at Tirunelveli in TamilNadu.

Personal life of Mallika Srinivasan

Mallika Srinivasan was married to Venu Srinivasan, who has been CMD of TVS Motor. She has a daughter Lakshmi Venu and a son Sudarshan Venu.

Education

She got a degree in Mathematics from the Women’s Christian College in Chennai. Then, she got a gold medal in the Econometrics from the Madras University. Later, she got her graduation from the Wharton School of Business, as a member of the Dean’s Honor List and Alpha Beta Gamma Society, at the University of Pennsylvania in United States.  She got the 125th rank in the successful alumni list of that University.

Early Life

Mallika had a plan to get into her family business in the year 1986. Then, she became the General Manager of the TAFE (Tractors and Farm Equipment) company. She made some changes and modified the Tafe into a Hi-technology based company, so that the company became the first choice for the farmers. Later, she took the charge to expand the business and economic wealth, thus she got Rs.85Crore from the Company.  She made a big change with the support of her father and the team.

Work Career of Mallika Srinivasan

Mallika initiated the TAFE (Tractors and Farm Equipment) for the manufacture of Tractors. She made the interests in farm machinery, tractors, diesel engines, pumps, cylinders, batteries, automobile equipments and engineering plastics that led the increase in the growth of the company to a high level. She has been the leader for many industrial bodies like “The Madras Chamber of Commerce” and “Tractors manufacturers Association of India”. Mallika worked in various designations for the industrial firms like Indian Institute of Foreign Trade and Confederation of Indian Industry.

Contribution of Mallika Srinivasan

Mallika has a passion to confirm the growth of education and healthcare in India. She plays the key role in health care groups like Cancer Hospital (Chennai), Sankara Nethralaya and other healthcare groups in TamilNadu. For many educational firms, she has given her contribution. With her Indira Sivasailam Foundation, she has been one of the support and contributor for the Carnatic music.

Tie-up with various Organizations

Mallika was the Executive Board member of the Bharathidasan Institute of Management in Trichy and the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad. She had been the Board member of the AGCL Corporation in US and the Tata Global Beverages Limited. Then she had been the Non-executive Director and Board member of the Tata Steel. Later she was the member of the Governing Board of Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai. Her company, TAFE serves as the second largest Tractor producer in India and the third largest producer of Tractors in the world.

Awards of Mallika Srinivasan

Her Mallika got a number of awards and honors. In 1999, she got the first Business Women of the year for India from the BBC. Then in 2005, she got the National Leadership Award from the IIM Lucknow. For subsequent seven years from the period of 2004 to 2010, she was among the 25 most powerful Women in Indian business listed by Business Today.  

For the year 2005-2006, she won the Business Woman of the year Award from The Economic Times. In 2010, she was chosen as one of the India Inc’s Most Powerful Women Leaders by The Economic Times Corporate Dossier. Again in 2010, she was among the 25 power in the India Today Woman’s list. She got the Vote as Entrepreneur of the Year in 2011 by Ernst and Young. Then she got the “Woman Leader of the year” from the Forbes India and got the honor as one of the Top 50 Asian Power Businesswomen from the same Forbes India.

Later the Business Today named her in the six Most Powerful Women of India In 2012, she was the awardees of the ABLF Woman of Power Award from the Asian Business Leadership Forum (ABLF). Later she got the Business Thought Leader of the Year 2012 Award from the India’s business television channel. She was one among the India Today’s Power List – The influencers in the year 2013. In 2014, she won the Padma Shri Award for Trade and Industry from the Government of India Later she got the fifth rank in the list of India’s Most Powerful Women in Business from the Fortune India. In 2016, she was among the BBC 100 Power Women 2016. Again in 2016, The New Indian Express gave her the Devi Award. Later in 2017, the TamilNadu Agricultural University gave her the Honorary Doctorate of Science for her work in supporting the agriculture. For the year 2018, she was given the fifth rank in the Fortune India‘s list of India’s most Powerful Women.
