Birth:

On February 3, 1963 Raghuram Rajan born in Bhopal at Madhya Pradesh into a Tamil family. Along with him, his father had four children. His father Govindarajan is an Indian police service officer.

Education:

Govindarajan was appointed in the intelligence Bureau. And he was posted to Indonesia in 1966. In 1968 his father joined the external intelligence Bureau. On 1970 he was posted to Srilanka. There because of the political turmoil, he lost his one year studies. Next destination was Belgium for his father. So he got study in a French school.

From 1974 to 1981 he attended Delhi Public School, RK Puram. On 1981, he rolled himself in the Bachelor of Engineering degree from the Indian Institute of technology. In 1958, he go the gold medal from the director for the best al rounder student. In 1987, Raghuram Rajan got his Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmadabad. In the PG degree he was a gold medalist.

Raghuram Rajan Early Life:

Once Raghuram Rajan finished his degree, he joined as a management trainee in TATA Sons Company. But soon he came out to join his doctorate degree. He joined MIT Sloan School of Management

Raghuram Rajan Personal life:

Raghuram Rajan Is married to Radhika Puri Rajan. Both of them met at IIM Ahmadabad while studying. She used to teach at the University Of Chicago Law School. She is an Associate Professor of Behavioral Science at the University Of Chicago Booth School Of Business. They have a daughter and a son.

Raghuram Rajan is a pure vegetarian. He loves to play outdoor games like squash and tennis and loves reading the books of olstoy, J. R. R. Tolkien and Upamanyu Chatterjee. He loves to participate in marathon. One of them was Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2015. Also he loves quiz competition and appeared in a TV show with his friends in 1980.

Raghuram Rajan an Indian economist:

On 1985, he finished his graduation on electrical engineering from Ivy League institution. On finishing he was presented a gold medal from his director. Next on 1987, he got his PG diploma on Business administration from the management school. He got his degree with gold medal. On 1991, he got his doctorate on management by writing a successful thesis called essays on banking.

He started his career as a professor on the Booth school of business which is under university of Chicago. From 2003 to 2006 he worked as IMF Economic Counselor and Director of Research. On 2007 he worked as educator for a while. On 2008 Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh offered him the honorary economic adviser.Raghuram Rajan has forecast some of the economic crisis and become a laughing stock by the people.

He was called as Luddite. But what he told came into scene on US and Europe during 2008 to 2012. This proved him as one of the greatest economist of all the time. On 2011, after Kaushik Basu, he was appointed as the outgoing Chief Economic Adviser to the Government of India. On 2012he was ordered to take a survey and become a part of 30 member group on the government of India.

Raghuram Rajan as a successful economist:

On 2011, Raghuram Rajan leads over the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Raghuram is the 23rd governor of the Reserve Bank of India. From 2003 to 2006 he was the chief Economist at International Monetary Fund. On 2009, he wrote an article boom-bust financial cycles formed as a result of financial liberalization. This article came on “The Economist” magazine.

Raghuram Rajan writings:

Raghuram Rajan is also very well known for his writing on economics. He used to demonstrate his insightful views through his writings. On 2015, he wrote a paper called “Has Financial Development Made the World Riskier”. This paper has attracted a lot of audience across the world. Another notable works of him includes ‘saving Capitalism from the Capitalists’ and ‘Fault Lines: How Hidden Fractures Still Threaten the World Economy’. These books he written along with Luigi Zingales. The ‘saving Capitalism from the Capitalists’ book has received Financial Times-Goldman Sachs award in 2010. It is considered as one of the best book published for the economic based idea. In 2009, he conducted a guest column for “The Economist”. This argument was for regulatory mechanism that would confirm the regular occurrence of the boom bust cycles. Raghuram Rajan also participated in the group called American academy of arts and science.

Awards for Raghuram Rajan:

  1. Central banking awarded Rajan the winner of central banking in 2015. On the year 2016, he was awarded the Global Central Banker from the banker’s magazine.
  2. On October 2014, Raghuram got the best central bank governor award from Euromoney.
  3. On 2013, as a RBI governor Raghuram Rajan received the Deutsche Bank Prize. That is for his extra-ordinary research work on the economic policies around the world.
  4. On 2011 from Infosys he received the Laureates 2011 award. This award is for social science and economics.
  5. This is for his work on the economic analysation and contribution of financial development to economic growth.
  6. The Financial Times and McKinsey Business Book of the Year Award 2010 was awarded to Raghuram Rajan.

Achievements of Raghuram Rajan:

  1. On February 2010, NASSCOM            on its 7th annual global leadership awards honored him by naming him as the Global Indian.
  2. On 2003, he was awarded practice of economist under age 40 by American Finance Association and the name of the prize was inaugural Fischer Black Prize
  3. On 2016, TIME’S magazine listed his name on one of the top 100 most influential people on 2016
  4. On March 2019, he was given “Yashwantrao Chavan National Award 2018” for his work on economic development.
  5. On current he is the vice-chairman of international bank of settlements.
