Who is Sundar Pichai?
Sundar Pichai is an Indian who born and studied in Chennai. Then become the Indian born American Computer Scientist. He is the CEO of Google and Alphabet. He is looking after the application development and services in those companies. His main target is to built application with AI implementation that can keep a record of both the big and small movements across the network.
Sundar Pichai childhood:
Sundar Pichai is born in Madurai, Tamilnadu, India on June 10, 1972. His father Regunatha is an electrical engineer who works at GEC, the British conglomerate. Along with that, he is having a plant that produces electrical components. His mother is a stenographer. He grew up in a two-room apartment in Ashok Nagar in Chennai.
Sundar Pichai education:
He completed his schooling from Jawahar Vidyalaya, a Central Board of Secondary Education school in Ashok Nagar, Chennai. Followed by his twelfth standard at Vana Vani school in the Indian Institute of Technology Madras. Sundar Pichai is a standout student even at his young age. Other than academics, he is a cricket team captain too. He got his degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur in metallurgical engineering. Then, he is also considered as the notable alumnus of the institution. He got his MS from Stanford University in material sciences and engineering followed by MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. In the University of Pennsylvania, he got the prestigious title as Siebel Scholar and a Palmer Scholar.
Early Career Details:
Initially he joined in McKinsey & Co, a consulting firm. Then he joined Google in 2004. He is the head of product management and development. At Google he got to work on the Google toolbar. This enabled the Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox Web browsers to easily access the Google search engine. Followed by this stage in next few years he got to involve in the development of Google own browser development called Chrome. This got released to the public in 2008. On the same year, he was given the title Vice president of the Product development team. There after he actively participated in public roles. Then by 2012, he becomes the product chief over both Google and the Android smartphone operating system.
CEO of Google:
Before becoming the CEO, he is one of the most trusted technical Lead. His colleagues used to describe him as one of the low key. He has technical skills and visions which paved him the way to become the CEO of Google. He used to tell that in the Silicon Valley being an immigrant doesn’t matter what matter is that the ideas. So that now he is able to look after thousands of employees and thousand billion of revenue. Along with that he is creating application that reah another billions.
Sundar Pichai in 2011 microblogging service Twitter wants to make Sundar as CEO. In 2014, Sundar was recognized as the possible CEO of Microsoft. In this both case Google granted him a large financial package to him. So that he would remain with them. He helped Google to negotiate 3.2 billion dollar so that it acquired Nest labs in 2014. In August 2015, Larry Page and Sergey Brin announced the creation of Alphabet Inc. With everyone expectation comes true Sundar becomes the CEO of Google. Followed by this on December 2019, Sundar Pichai becomes the CEO of Alphabet since Larry stepped down from the position.
Personal Life:
Sundar Pichai married Anjali Pichai. She is a chemical engineer from Kota, Rajasthan. They have met as classmates at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. Sundar is having two children.
Achievements of Sundar Pichai:
- His career as a head of the company is really noteworthy. Since, he has doubled the revenue of the company when he joined.
- Becoming the CEO of Alphabet is one of the high profile jobs in the world.
- In 2011 at the company’s I/O developer conference, he launched the Chrome OS and Chrome book.
- Next, in 2014 he becomes the leader of the Android operating system which in turn responsible for powering the android smartphone worldwide.
- Later on that year he was appointed as lead in the product and engineering for all of Google’s platforms. He is responsible for applications such as maps, Android and Gmail.
- In 2014, Sundar Pichai was suggested for the position of CEO in Microsoft. After his denial, the position was given to Sathya Nadella who is also an Indian.
- Then in 2019, he becomes the CEO of both Google and Alphabet.
- In the year 2019 Pichai has become the CEO of Alphabet, the company turnover was $161.8 billion. This is double eth revenue that recorded in 2015.
- By the eleventh year after joining Google, he becomes the CEO of the company.
Controversies of Sundar Pichai:
An employee of Google wrote a ten page of manifesto describing the diversities of the company policies. She wrote like “distribution of preferences and abilities of men and women differ in part due to biological causes and … these differences may explain why we don’t see equal representation of women in tech and leadership” so this employee got fired by Sundar Pichai. This created a huge controversy and become a public debate topic. Pichai at China world Internet conference told that Google is helping Chinese small and large scale business to get their products sale in and outside of the country. Then in December 11, 2018 he got appeared and testified in U.S. House Judiciary Committee on a wide range of Google-related issues. He got grilled for more than an hour on topics like data collection, data processing, security and storage of data.
