The World Bio-fuel day is recognized on August 10 by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas from 2015.
The main idea is to create awareness of non-fossil fuels as a replacement to conventional fossil fuels.

The day is being recalled for the research experiment done in the year 1893 by Sir Rudolf diesel, who functioned engine with a peanut oil also predicted that in the next century, vegetable oil to replace fossil fuels in different mechanical engines.
On the day Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas Secretary Shri Tarun Kapoor said that there are opportunities to produce bio-fuel in our country focusing three important areas Bio-diesel, Biogas, and Ethanol since we owe a large number of agricultural residues.

Bio-fuel has valuable benefits such as increased income for farmers and employment, reduces the import dependency and ensure a clean environment
